A quiet Monday morning in Bulverde, Texas, turned into a scene of fear and heartbreak when a 15-year-old student opened fire inside Hill Country College Preparatory High School, leaving a beloved teacher injured and the campus shaken.
Authorities say the shooting happened around 8:30 a.m., just before classes were set to begin. Students were still settling in when gunfire rang out from a second-floor classroom. Within moments, panic spread through the halls as students and staff rushed to find safety.
The student, whose name has not been released, shot Social Studies and Advanced Placement Government teacher Stephanie Ruvalcaba. She was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital in the San Antonio area. As of the latest update, her condition has not been made public, leaving many in the community holding on to hope.
Deputies with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office arrived swiftly. By the time they reached the scene, the suspect had already died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials stressed that the situation was contained quickly and did not escalate into a prolonged active shooter event.
