Baton Rouge Investigation Ongoing After Edwyn Williams, 18, Shot at Howell Place

BATON ROUGE — Police are searching for answers after 18-year-old Edwyn Williams was found shot inside a vehicle early Thursday morning at an apartment complex off Plank Road.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed the shooting happened around 6 a.m. at The Reserve at Howell Place. Officers responded to the parking lot where Williams was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders attempted to help him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are now focused on what happened in those early morning hours. The Baton Rouge Police Department has not released information about a suspect or what may have led up to the shooting. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and speak with potential witnesses.

The scene itself raised many questions. A vehicle parked in a residential lot. A young man inside. A community waking up to flashing lights and crime scene tape. For residents, it was a jarring start to the day.

While police work to uncover the facts, the human side of this tragedy remains clear. Williams was only 18 years old. He stood at the threshold of adulthood, a time when most young people are stepping into new opportunities and responsibilities.

Those close to him are now grieving a loss that feels impossible to process. His death has left a family in pain and a neighborhood shaken. Violence has a way of rippling outward, touching far more lives than just those directly involved.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging patience while they sort through the details. For now, Baton Rouge waits. A young life has been lost, and a family is left to mourn. The hope is that answers will come, and that justice will follow in the days ahead.
