HENDERSON — Jashia Wright Found Fatally Stabbed in Front Yard; Neighbor Detained

Shortly after 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Vance County deputies answered a call to Vincent Hoyle Road and found 26‑year‑old Jashia Wright suffering from multiple stab wounds in a front yard. Wright was transported to Maria Parham Hospital but did not survive.

Officers detained 24‑year‑old Naisha Wynn at the residence while they processed the scene and interviewed possible witnesses. After a preliminary investigation, Wynn was formally charged with first‑degree murder and booked into the Vance County Detention Center, where she remains in custody.

Officials described the arrest as swift and said there is no known ongoing danger to the wider community. Deputies continue to collect evidence and seek clarity about the events that led to the stabbing.

Neighbors told reporters the area felt like a close‑knit neighborhood, now shaken by sudden violence. A small memorial has formed near the house as people mourn Wright and wait for answers.

Anyone who might have seen or heard anything before the early morning call is urged to reach out to the Vance County Sheriff’s Office at 252‑738‑2200 or to Henderson‑Vance Crime Stoppers at 252‑492‑1925. Tips may be given anonymously.

Court paperwork confirms Wynn appeared before a magistrate and is being held without bond while authorities build their case. The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active as they piece together witness statements and physical evidence.
