Lawrence Township Ohio: A quiet afternoon on State Route 93 turned tragic when Shawn D. Simon, 41, lost his life in a violent two-vehicle crash that shook the Massillon community.
It happened around 12:16 p.m. on April 23. Simon was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra northbound when something went wrong. His vehicle crossed the center line and slammed head-on into an oncoming 2018 Chevrolet Silverado.
The impact was brutal. Both trucks were pushed off the roadway, leaving behind twisted metal and shattered glass scattered across the scene. The force of the crash left little chance for an easy rescue.

First responders arrived quickly, but Simon had already suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene after being pulled from the wreckage through mechanical extrication.
The other vehicle carried two people. The driver, Terry L. Evans, 70, from Massillon, survived the crash but was injured and taken to Aultman Hospital. His injuries were described as not life-threatening.
A passenger seated in the front of Evans’ vehicle walked away without any injuries. That contrast has added to the shock surrounding the crash, as one vehicle lost a life while the other escaped with minimal harm.
Several local emergency teams worked the scene together, including fire crews, EMS units, police officers, and towing services. The roadway remained active for a long stretch as cleanup and investigation took place.
As days pass, the community continues to wrestle with the sudden loss of Simon. Friends and family are left with memories of a life cut short on a stretch of road that now carries a heavy reminder of how quickly things can change.
