Louisville — On Saturday evening around 6:15 p.m., the community was rocked by a fatal crash on Interstate 265, the Gene Snyder Freeway, when 31-year-old Kristen Mohr lost control of her car and was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over. Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene between Dixie Highway and Stonestreet Road after reports of a single-vehicle crash, but Mohr was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, Mohr was driving eastbound on I-265 when her vehicle veered off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The car entered the median and rolled multiple times before coming to rest. Emergency crews worked at the crash site, but Mohr, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and did not survive.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that blunt force trauma from the crash caused her death. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. Police closed all eastbound lanes of the freeway for several hours as they investigated and cleared the scene, leading to significant traffic delays in the area.
Friends and family have described Mohr as a beloved daughter and friend, someone whose presence brightened everyday moments. People who knew her are struggling to make sense of her sudden death, leaning on one another for support as they remember her spirit and the life she lived.
Mohr’s passing is a stark reminder of how fragile life can be. In the hours after the crash, loved ones shared memories and expressions of grief, seeking solace in each other’s company and in the community that knew her.
Investigators from the LMPD Traffic Unit continue to seek answers about what led to the crash, including whether speed or road conditions played a part. For now, those who cared about Mohr are focusing on honoring her memory and offering support to her family.
As Louisville grapples with another tragic traffic death, thoughts remain with those who knew and loved Kristen Mohr, hoping they find strength in shared memories during this difficult time.
