The calm of a Sunday outing along the Ocoee River turned into heartbreak in a matter of minutes. Richard White, a 50-year-old man from Cleveland, Tennessee, lost his life after falling from a raft while navigating the river’s powerful rapids.
It happened south of Ocoee Dam No. 2, an area known for fast water and strong currents. What began as a routine recreational trip quickly shifted into a life-or-death emergency when White was thrown into the rushing water.
