Saturday morning was supposed to be a regular holiday weekend for folks in town. Instead, it turned into an absolute nightmare. A sudden wave of violence took away two young men who had so much ahead of them. Dekevion Andrews, who was just 19, and Donovan Jackson, who was 22, lost their lives. The shooting happened right outside the Orchard Cafe on Highway 24.
Both of these young guys were incredibly well-loved around the area. Friends and family are completely heartbroken by the news. People remember Dekevion and Donovan as kind souls who brought genuine joy whenever they walked into a room. They had big dreams and bright futures that were cut short far too soon. Now, their loved ones are left trying to process an unfillable void.

The gunfire erupted deep into the night around 12:55 a.m. Immediate chaos broke out near the local hangout spot as bullets started flying. In total, nine people were struck during the wild incident. When the dust finally settled, local sheriff deputies found out that several victims had already rushed into the emergency room at Fields Health System.
Emergency responders and medical staff did everything humanly possible to save the wounded. They provided lifesaving aid right away on the scene and at the hospital. Sadly, the injuries were just too severe for Dekevion and Donovan. The two young men passed away under the care of doctors, and their bodies were sent to Jackson for autopsies.
The tragic incident left a long trail of pain across the community. Aside from the two fatalities, seven other people were wounded by the gunfire. Three of those victims were in bad enough shape that they had to be rushed to an out-of-area trauma center for intense medical care. The remaining four were treated for their injuries and have thankfully been released.
Tributes and emotional messages have been pouring in from neighbors, relatives, and close friends. Everyone is trying to offer support to the grieving families during this unimaginably tough time. Even local officials are feeling the weight of the tragedy. Centreville Mayor Demetria Allen-Hudson stated that her office is holding off on comments for now out of respect.
The entire town is gripping tightly to the beautiful memories left behind by Dekevion and Donovan. Their families will share funeral and memorial arrangements at a later date. Until then, folks are promising to keep their legacies of friendship and love alive. The community will make sure these two young men are never forgotten.
