Blaine Warnimont, Fulton County: Devastating cornfield crash cuts short a young life after driver blows past a stop sign.

A quiet Sunday evening ride turned into an absolute nightmare for a small northwest Ohio community. Folks in Fulton County are hurting deeply today after a brutal two-vehicle wreck took a local man way too soon. The tragic scene played out at a rural crossroads that locals know all too well.

The crash happened right around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Blaine Warnimont, a twenty-nine-year-old guy from Cloverdale, was just driving south down State Route 109. He had a passenger riding along with him in the car. It was supposed to be just another normal weekend drive through the country lanes.

Everything changed in a split second at the intersection of County Road D. Another driver, twenty-five-year-old Gabriel Caley of Fayette, was heading west. Caley blew right through a stop sign at the crossing. His vehicle slammed hard into Warnimont’s car with terrifying force.

The impact was so severe that it sent both vehicles flying off the southwest corner of the road. They took down a utility pole and smashed up a cable box along the way. Both cars finally came to a dead stop out in the middle of a nearby cornfield.

First responders rushed out to the rural intersection to save lives. They pulled everyone from the wreckage and worked frantically on the scene. Warnimont was rushed to a medical facility over in Wauseon. Tragically, his injuries were just too severe, and he was pronounced dead.

Warnimont’s passenger survived the terrifying ordeal but suffered injuries from the impact. Emergency crews transported the passenger to a hospital in Toledo. Thankfully, doctors say those injuries are not life-threatening. Caley was also taken to a hospital to get treated for minor injuries.

State troopers are still trying to piece together exactly what went wrong. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is keeping the investigation open for now. For the family and friends of Blaine Warnimont, a regular Sunday drive ended in a loss that words cannot even begin to describe.
