A quiet Thursday night in Huntsville turned tragic when Troy Russell Tyrrell Jr., a 50-year-old motorcyclist from Imbler, Oregon, lost his life in a crash along one of the city’s busiest roadways.
The fatal collision happened at about 9:10 p.m. on Cecil Ashburn Drive in southeast Huntsville. The roadway, known for its winding curves and steady traffic flow, runs near nature preserve areas and serves as a major connection between residential communities and commercial districts.

According to authorities, Tyrrell was riding a motorcycle when it became involved in a collision with a passenger vehicle. Investigators have not yet explained what led to the crash, and the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Despite their efforts, Tyrrell suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials later identified him as Troy Russell Tyrrell Jr. of Imbler, Oregon.
The driver of the passenger vehicle also suffered injuries and was transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services for treatment. Authorities have not released information regarding that person’s condition.
The crash occurred along a stretch of Cecil Ashburn Drive that many local drivers know well. The roadway carries significant commuter traffic and provides access to Monte Sano Mountain and nearby natural areas. Its terrain includes curves and elevation changes that require drivers to remain alert, especially after dark.
