Sabine Pass, Texas: Angel Anthony Dominguez, remembered as a devoted son after deadly Highway 87 crash
Sabine Pass, Texas — A late afternoon drive turned into a nightmare on State Highway 87 when a passenger van crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed into a bus. Angel Anthony Dominguez, 28, was among those killed at the scene. The crash has left families across Baytown and surrounding communities in deep shock.
The wreck happened around 3:50 p.m. when a Chevrolet Express van was heading northwest. According to investigators, it drifted into the opposite lane and hit a Hotard passenger bus traveling southeast. The force of the impact sent the van off the road into a ditch.

Behind the bus, an Audi sedan also became involved, crashing into the rear after the initial impact. The chain reaction added to the chaos already unfolding on the highway.
Dominguez was not alone. Three other men in the van died at the scene, including Emmanuel Reynosa Rivas, 27, Osvaldo Alvarez, 27, and the driver, Cesar Rojas, 28. All were pronounced dead where the crash occurred.
Several other passengers survived the initial impact but suffered severe injuries. They were rushed to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Days later, another young man, 22-year-old Caleb Burge, died, raising the total death count to five.
Family members say the group had been working at a refinery and were on their way home when the crash happened. The return trip they expected to be routine never reached its destination.
Dominguez’s family described him as full of life and deeply connected to those around him. A fundraiser created in his name says he loved music, movies, video games, and spending time with family. It also highlights his humor and his ability to bring people together.
His brother shared a painful account of arriving at the scene from behind traffic. He described seeing the wreckage and first responders trying to reach victims, saying the moment changed everything in an instant.
