Berkeley County, West Virginia — Robert Byron Elliott, 37, of Paw Paw, lost his life after a serious motorcycle crash late Saturday night along Hedgesville Road.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. on April 18 in the 900 block of Hedgesville Road. Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded after reports came in about a severe traffic crash involving a motorcyclist.

When first responders arrived, they found Elliott badly injured at the scene. Early reports indicated his motorcycle had struck a guardrail, leaving him with critical trauma.
Emergency crews and deputies worked quickly to provide life-saving aid. Paramedics rushed him to Berkeley Medical Center for urgent treatment, hoping to stabilize his condition.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Elliott did not survive. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, leaving family and friends in deep shock.
Authorities confirmed that his next of kin was notified following his passing. Loved ones are now facing the sudden and painful loss of a man taken far too soon.
Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, including an on-call reconstruction specialist, later examined the scene to understand what led to the crash.
Preliminary findings suggest the motorcycle was traveling above the posted speed limit before the impact. Investigators believe that speed may have caused Elliott to lose control, leading to the collision with the guardrail.
The investigation is still ongoing as officials continue to piece together the full circumstances of what happened that night.
