Laurens County crash turned deadly late Sunday night in East Dublin, leaving a tight-knit Georgia community in shock after a mother and her teenage daughter lost their lives in a violent head-on collision.
It happened at the intersection of Georgia Highway 29 South and JW Warren Road. A 35-year-old mother, Chelsea Elizabeth Wilson, was driving with her 16-year-old daughter, Aliah Michelle Smith, when their vehicle was struck head-on by another car driven by 29-year-old Damarcus Tyrell Wimbush.

Emergency responders arrived on scene shortly before midnight on May 3. Both Wilson and her daughter were rushed to Fairview Park Hospital as crews worked urgently to save them.
Despite those efforts, Chelsea Wilson was pronounced dead at 1:12 a.m. Monday morning. Her daughter, Aliah Smith, died shortly after at 2:37 a.m. Both deaths were caused by multiple blunt force injuries from the crash.
Two other children were also inside Wilson’s vehicle during the collision. One child was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover. The other was flown by air ambulance to a medical facility in Augusta for further treatment.
News of the crash spread quickly through Soperton and surrounding areas, bringing waves of grief. Neighbors, friends, and family members have gathered in support, trying to make sense of a loss that feels too heavy to carry.
