Harker Heights, Texas — Harker Heights is in shock after the early morning killing of 35-year-old Leonard Alvin Green Jr., who was found shot on West Nolan Trail in a case now tied to a wider kidnapping investigation across Bell County.
Police were called to the 100 block of West Nolan Trail around 3:41 a.m. on Monday after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found Green suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders rushed to help, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Justice of the Peace Nicola James confirmed his death at 3:56 a.m.

Family members and friends are now left trying to process the sudden loss. Those who knew him describe a man whose life was cut short in a violent moment that no one saw coming.
Investigators say Green’s death is not an isolated case. Authorities have linked it to an ongoing aggravated kidnapping investigation led by Temple police, suggesting a series of coordinated events across multiple locations.
Later that same morning, police responded to another scene in the 100 block of Yuron Trace at about 6:48 a.m. A vehicle was found burning, and investigators believe it is connected to both the homicide and kidnapping case.
Officials from the Temple Police Department also reported a kidnapping call earlier that morning at around 4:01 a.m. Two people were reportedly taken from Temple and later returned on their own. One suffered minor injuries, while the other was not hurt.
Authorities have confirmed that the shooting death of Leonard Green Jr. and the kidnapping case are linked, with multiple agencies now working together to piece together what happened in the early hours of Monday morning.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified as the investigation continues. For Green’s loved ones, answers are still out of reach as they mourn a life lost too soon.
