Montgomery County, Texas – Two drivers died and a child was seriously hurt Tuesday afternoon when a southbound pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and triggered a violent head‑on collision on Farm‑to‑Market Road 1484 just south of Airport Road.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety say shortly before 5 p.m. a platinum Ford F‑150 heading south drifted across the centerline for reasons investigators have not yet determined. The truck smashed into a northbound Ford F‑150, and debris from the crash sent a nearby Chevrolet pickup into the wreckage.

Both drivers of the F‑150s were killed at the scene. Their names have not been released pending notification of family, but friends and online tributes have identified one as Landon Atkeisson, a former Conroe High School student with ties to the community.
Riding in the northbound truck was a 10‑year‑old child who was badly injured. Emergency crews rushed the youngster to a hospital. Officials have not updated the child’s condition, and loved ones are waiting for news with heavy hearts.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup walked away without injuries and stayed on scene to speak with investigators. DPS troopers closed FM 1484 in both directions for hours as crash reconstruction teams combed the scene and cleanup crews worked to clear more than 100 yards of wreckage and scattered tools from the road.
Neighbors and witnesses described a sudden, shocking scene. A normally quiet stretch of rural highway turned tragic in seconds, leaving families and first responders stunned.
State troopers said the investigation into what caused the southbound truck to veer into the northbound lane is ongoing. Officials urged drivers to be cautious on two‑lane rural highways, especially at dusk when visibility can change rapidly.
