Wenatchee was shaken on Friday morning after a deadly crash claimed the life of a longtime local motorcyclist, 70-year-old David Borges. The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. along North Western Avenue, turning an ordinary day into a tragic moment for the community.
According to investigators, Borges was riding his motorcycle northbound when a pickup truck driven by 61-year-old Byron Jones of East Wenatchee attempted a left turn onto Locust Avenue. The two vehicles met at the intersection, and the impact was immediate and severe.

Emergency crews arrived quickly and worked at the scene, trying to save Borges. Despite those efforts, his injuries were too critical. He was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving responders and bystanders in shock at what had unfolded.
The driver of the pickup truck, Byron Jones, was not injured in the crash. Officials confirmed that no signs of intoxicants appear to have been involved, keeping the focus on the circumstances of the turn and timing of the collision.
The crash forced authorities to shut down several blocks of North Western Avenue for hours. Investigators carefully mapped the scene, collected evidence, and worked to clear the roadway while traffic built up around the area.
Police say the investigation is still active. No citations have been issued at this stage, and fault has not yet been formally determined as officials continue to review all available details and witness accounts.
Friends and neighbors in Wenatchee are mourning David Borges. Those who knew him describe a familiar presence in the community, and his sudden death has left many struggling to process the loss.
