Irondale, Ala. Jack Lee Wilson Jr Dies After Late-Night Crash on Crestwood

Irondale, Ala. Jack Lee Wilson Jr., a 79-year-old Irondale resident, has died after suffering severe injuries in a single-vehicle crash earlier this week.

The crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Kilgore Memorial Drive and Crestwood Boulevard. It involved only one vehicle.

Authorities said Wilson was the driver and the only person inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews arrived quickly at the scene and rushed him to UAB Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Doctors worked to stabilize him, but his injuries were critical from the moment he arrived.
Wilson later died on Wednesday at 4:33 p.m., despite continued medical efforts.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity as Jack Lee Wilson Jr.
Officials say the Irondale Police Department is still looking into what led to the crash, and no clear cause has been released.

Investigators have not shared whether speed, road conditions, or any other factor played a role in the incident.

For now, the community is left with questions as authorities continue their work to understand exactly what happened that night.
