Johnson County Indiana Cary Dean Carlile Killed in Two-Truck Crash on State Road 135

Johnson County Indiana turned tragic Tuesday afternoon when Cary Dean Carlile, 59, of Morgantown, lost his life in a violent crash involving two pickup trucks towing trailers. The incident unfolded around 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of West State Road 135 and County Road 500 West, also known locally as Spearsville Road.

Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office arrived quickly after emergency calls reported a serious collision. What they found was a head-on crash between two heavy-duty Ford pickups, both reportedly pulling trailers at the time.

Investigators say a white Ford F-250 heading north on State Road 135 crossed the center line. Early findings suggest the driver may have been braking before the vehicle drifted, leaving tire marks on the road that support that theory.

That truck slammed directly into a white Ford F-550 coming from the opposite direction. The impact was strong enough to leave both vehicles heavily damaged and scattered across the roadway.

Carlile was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner’s Office. Officials later confirmed his identity and said an autopsy is scheduled as part of the ongoing investigation.

Three other people were injured in the crash and rushed to hospitals in the Indianapolis area. One person had to be cut free from the wreck after becoming pinned by the steering column, then flown out by Lifeline helicopter due to severe injuries.

The crash shut down State Road 135 at Spearsville Road for several hours while investigators documented the scene, cleared debris, and began piecing together exactly what led to the collision. Authorities are still reviewing speed, driver actions, and other possible contributing factors.
