TUCSON ARIZONA — Savannah Guthrie stood beside her brother and sister in a raw, emotional video this week, pleading with anyone holding their mother to show proof she’s still alive. Their 84-year-old mom, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing since Saturday night when she was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills north of Tucson. Authorities believe she was taken against her will, and the family’s message has now taken center stage in a desperate search that has gripped the community and sparked nationwide concern.
In the video posted Wednesday evening, Savannah — co-host of NBC’s Today show — spoke directly to the unknown person or people believed to be holding her mother. Her voice cracked as she spoke of “reports about a ransom letter” that have appeared in the media. “We are ready to talk,” she said, looking into the camera, “but we need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her.”

The family’s plea wasn’t just words of hope. Savannah described her mother’s fragile health openly, explaining that Nancy lives with constant pain and needs daily medication to survive. “She is 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile,” she said, urging anyone with direct knowledge to reach out.
Her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, took turns in the video, their emotions plain in every pause and gesture. Annie called their mother their “beacon,” the light missing from their lives, while Camron simply said, “We love you, mom. Stay strong.”
Law enforcement has confirmed they are investigating possible ransom notes that have been sent to media outlets, including at least one to a local Arizona station and another reported to TMZ. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says it is treating all tips and leads seriously, though authorities have not confirmed the authenticity of the notes or made any arrests.
Sheriff Chris Nanos described the scene at Nancy Guthrie’s home as concerning and said investigators are examining every piece of evidence. Detectives have been working with the FBI and combing through leads, but have publicly identified no suspects.
Community support for the family has been steady. People in Tucson have gathered and prayed, and messages of hope have poured in from across the country as the search enters its fourth day. Through it all, the Guthrie family has held onto faith and the hope that someone with information will step forward with proof that Nancy is still alive.
