In Erie County, Pennsylvania, tragedy struck on Thursday evening, April 9, 2026, when 22-year-old Shawn McClelland Jr. lost his life in a fatal motorcycle crash at the intersection of Haskell Hill Road and Hopson Hill Road in Corry. The young rider’s death has left a quiet community in shock and disbelief.
The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. McClelland was riding a 2004 Triumph motorcycle heading west on Haskell Hill Road. At the same time, a 2017 GMC Sierra driven by Mason Conti was moving east on the same roadway.

Authorities say the pickup driver attempted a left turn onto Hopson Hill Road. During that turn, the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the truck. The impact was severe and immediate.
After the collision, the motorcycle became trapped beneath the vehicle. McClelland was found lying in the roadway shortly after the crash. Emergency responders rushed him to UPMC for urgent medical care.
Despite efforts by medical teams, he later died from his injuries. Officials confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which did not prevent the fatal outcome.
