Amarillo Western Street Crash: Gabriel Lawrence Ayers and Kaitlyn Wallace Killed in Early Morning Collision

Amarillo Western Street, Texas — A violent early morning crash on Friday, April 10, 2026, has left two 26-year-olds dead and several others seriously injured after a collision at Western Street and Mesa Drive.

It happened around 2:38 a.m. when police were called to the intersection following reports of a major crash involving two vehicles. Officers arrived to a scene of heavy destruction and immediate chaos.

Investigators found a blue Subaru Impreza with severe damage along the driver’s side and a blue Nissan Rogue with major front-end impact. The force of the crash suggested a high-speed collision in the dark hours of the night.

Inside the Subaru, Gabriel Lawrence Ayers was behind the wheel. Kaitlyn Wallace was seated in the front passenger seat. Both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two additional passengers sitting in the back seat of the Subaru were also hurt. Authorities confirmed they were rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and remain in critical condition.

Police said the driver of the Nissan Rogue left the scene on foot before officers arrived. The identity of that individual has not yet been confirmed, and the search remains active.
