The Fort Worth community is facing a painful loss after a deadly wrong-way crash claimed the lives of 48-year-old Justin Blackburn and 22-year-old Hannah Lucio along State Highway 121 near Sylvania in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It happened just before dawn, when the road was still quiet and most people were asleep. Police say a wrong-way driver was reported on the highway around 4:30 a.m., setting off a chain of events that ended in a violent head-on collision.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two heavily damaged vehicles positioned directly against each other after the impact. The force of the crash left both drivers with catastrophic injuries.
Justin Blackburn, who was driving a white pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Hannah Lucio, who was driving a blue sedan, was still alive when emergency crews arrived but was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Despite medical efforts, Lucio later died from her injuries, bringing the total number of lives lost in the crash to two. Both families were notified as investigators began working through the aftermath.
Authorities with the Fort Worth Police Department confirmed that a Traffic Investigation Unit is handling the case. At this stage, they have not confirmed what caused the wrong-way driving or whether impairment or other factors played a role.
The crash has left a deep emotional mark on family members, friends, and neighbors. Messages of grief and remembrance have been shared widely, describing both victims as people who mattered deeply to those around them.
As investigators continue to piece together what happened in those final moments, the focus for many in the community has shifted to mourning and support for the grieving families left behind.
The incident stands as a stark reminder of how quickly ordinary nights on the road can turn into irreversible tragedy, leaving entire communities trying to make sense of sudden loss.
