A quiet stretch of Farmers Road in Clinton County turned tragic on Friday afternoon when a two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 33-year-old motorcyclist. Joshua Pagett, the rider involved, later died from his injuries after being rushed for emergency care.
The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. in Washington Township, near the intersection of Farmers Road and Murphy Road. Traffic conditions were normal at the time, and visibility was not reported as a factor.

Investigators say a 71-year-old man was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and was pulling out of a private driveway onto Farmers Road. As he entered the roadway, the situation escalated quickly.
At that same moment, Pagett was riding a 2003 Yamaha XVS650C motorcycle traveling southeast on Farmers Road. Authorities say the driver of the Chrysler failed to yield the right-of-way to the approaching motorcycle.
The impact was severe. The motorcycle was struck and forced off the roadway. Pagett was thrown from his bike on impact, suffering critical and life-threatening injuries at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed him by air to Miami Valley Hospital in an attempt to save his life. Despite those efforts and medical intervention, he was later pronounced dead.
Officials noted that Pagett was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Chrysler, meanwhile, was wearing a seatbelt and sustained only minor injuries, which were treated at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. Authorities have not released additional details, but they are reviewing how the failure to yield led to the deadly collision.
Officials have again urged drivers to stay alert on rural roads, follow right-of-way rules carefully, and take all basic safety precautions to avoid preventable tragedies.
