Jeffersontown police were called just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment on Fir Trail where a young woman had been shot. When officers pulled up, they found 19‑year‑old Noraa Deglow lying inside with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery but did not survive.
Neighbors and friends in the apartment complex were stunned by the violence. People living nearby said they often saw Deglow and her boyfriend, 21‑year‑old Adam Thomas, together inside the same unit. On the evening of the shooting, several witnesses told police they heard the two talking and playing video games before the shot rang out.

Police arrested Thomas at the scene. At the time, officers found a revolver tucked inside his jacket pocket with a spent cartridge inside the cylinder. When asked what happened, Thomas told investigators he and Deglow had been watching TV and smoking when the gun went off after he picked it up.
Some residents told police Thomas had a habit of handling the firearm in a casual way, sometimes pointing it at people with what he called “playful” intent. One witness said Thomas immediately reacted after the shot by saying the gun had misfired.
Thomas was booked into Metro Corrections and appeared in court the next day. He entered a not‑guilty plea and a judge set bond at $500,000 in cash. Prosecutors also asked that he have no contact with Deglow’s family as the case moves through the system.
Investigators say the circumstances of the shooting are still under review. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and collect evidence to determine exactly what led to the fatal discharge of the weapon inside the apartment.
