Dunnellon FL Mom Fighting Heart Failure Faces Daily Struggle to Keep Her Family Safe

In the quiet streets of Dunnellon, Florida, single mom Angie Orerram has been living a life most people can barely imagine. Since 2023, her world has been defined by relentless health battles that would take a toll on anyone, but especially someone carrying the weight of a family on her shoulders.

Angie’s problems began with cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure, conditions that weaken the heart and make even simple breath a struggle. Over time her health unravelled further with diagnoses like postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), which causes sudden fainting, and serious valve issues in her heart that leave her breathless and in pain almost every moment of the day. She deals with chronic chest pain, constant fatigue and unpredictable collapses that have forced multiple ambulance calls and doctor visits.

Doctors have repeatedly told Angie she should stay home for her safety and to protect others around her from the risk of sudden collapses. But staying home means losing income and the roof over her children’s heads. Though her physicians have backed her, disability support was denied because of her age, and she now awaits a decision on appeal with mounting bills pressing in.

Her GoFundMe campaign, Help Angie Stay Safe, Support Her Family, is an effort to cover rent, utilities and basics so she can follow medical advice and keep her kids safe. She writes openly about small donations making a big difference, and how being homebound, though frightening, is vital for her survival.

Friends and strangers alike have pitched in, drawn to her honesty and courage. Angie describes herself as someone who keeps others smiling even while she’s quietly hurting, hoping that support will help her family stay together in a time that feels unbearably fragile.

Her story, at its heart, highlights the wrenching reality many face in America’s disability system — where long waits and difficult decisions push already vulnerable families closer to crisis. Angie says she won’t give up on her children or her fight for stability.
