Jersey City was shaken on Sunday afternoon after a violent stabbing left a 47-year-old man dead on Dwight Street near Bergen Avenue. The victim, Kareem Mack, was found with multiple stab wounds shortly after police were called to the scene around 12:35 p.m.
Officers from the Jersey City Police Department arrived quickly and found Mack unresponsive on the ground. Emergency responders rushed him to Jersey City Medical Center. He was in critical condition during transport.

Medical staff worked on him upon arrival, but he did not survive. He was pronounced dead shortly after 1:10 p.m. His death has left family and neighbors in shock as investigators try to piece together what happened.
Authorities identified the case as a homicide early in the investigation. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit joined Jersey City police to secure the area and collect evidence from the street scene.
Investigators later identified Kyshawn Foster, 26, also of Jersey City, as a person of interest. He was located in Hoboken on Jackson Street and taken into custody without incident.
Foster has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility awaiting his first court appearance.
Officials said the incident is being reviewed as a possible domestic-related situation, though details have not been fully released. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and gather information from the neighborhood.
Authorities stressed that the charges are allegations and that Foster is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The investigation remains active as police work to clarify the events that led to the stabbing.
