Las Vegas: Danaijha Robinson and Toddler Nhalani Killed in Car Shooting That Shook a Quiet Street

A young mother and a toddler lost their lives after gunfire ripped through a car late Monday night in a south Las Vegas neighborhood. Police say 20-year-old Danaijha Robinson and a little girl known to family as Nhalani were both inside the vehicle when someone opened fire. By the time help arrived, the night had already turned into a tragedy that neighbors say they will not soon forget.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened shortly after 9 p.m. near Starr Avenue and Dean Martin Drive. Officers were conducting a routine traffic stop in the area when they suddenly heard gunshots ring out nearby. The sound sent them moving quickly toward a residential street just a short distance away.

Police followed the noise to the 11000 block of Victoria Medici Street. There, officers found a car riddled with multiple bullet holes. Inside the vehicle were Robinson and the toddler, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews rushed them to a nearby hospital, hoping time was still on their side.

Doctors worked to save them, but both Robinson and the child were pronounced dead not long after arriving. The Clark County coroner later confirmed Robinson’s death as a homicide. The toddler, believed to be around one year old, was remembered by family members as Nhalani, a little girl they say had a big personality despite her young age.

Investigators say the gunfire came from an unknown suspect who shot into the vehicle and fled before police could reach the scene. Detectives have not yet released a motive. The sudden violence has left investigators searching for answers about who pulled the trigger and why.

Neighbors described the street as usually quiet, the kind of place where nights pass peacefully. The sound of gunshots followed by flashing lights and sirens turned that calm upside down. Residents stepped outside to see what had happened, only to learn later that two lives had been lost.

As detectives continue their investigation, police are asking anyone who may have seen something or captured surveillance footage in the area to come forward. Even a small detail, they say, could help piece together what happened in those critical moments.

Meanwhile, loved ones are grieving the loss of Robinson and the little girl who rode beside her. A fundraiser has been organized to help Robinson’s family cover funeral expenses and other costs as they face the painful days ahead.
