COLUMBUS Gardiner Drive Shooting Leaves Lexus Antrom Dead, Husband Injured

Columbus police woke up the quiet east side early Thursday to a scene that tore right through the heart of a neighborhood. At around 4 a.m., officers were called to the 4500 block of Gardiner Drive, where they found 28‑year‑old Lexus Antrom lying on the bedroom floor with fatal gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead where she fell, her life cut short in what neighbors are only beginning to understand.

Inside that same home, investigators learned Antrom’s husband was also shot. He was hurt but alive, rushed to a nearby hospital with a wound to his leg. As of Thursday night, he was listed in stable condition, surrounded by family and friends waiting for news on his recovery.

Police have not publicly named any suspects or shared what may have sparked the shooting. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are combing the scene, talking to neighbors, and piecing together what happened during those dark early hours. Officers have made no arrests so far and haven’t confirmed whether this was a private dispute or something that spilled over from outside.

People living on Gardiner Drive say they were shaken awake by flashing lights and helicopters overhead. Several spoke about how close the community feels, and how news like this hits everyone, not just the family directly involved. Some talked about feeling uneasy, others about the need for more support and understanding among neighbors.

Antrom’s body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy, a step that may offer answers about the final moments of her life. Police are urging anyone who saw or heard anything unusual to come forward with information, hoping someone might hold the key to this tragedy.

As the investigation continues, the neighborhood is left grappling with loss and unanswered questions. Friends and family remember Antrom as a vibrant young woman with a life full of promise, now gone too soon. Her husband’s condition is still being monitored, and many in the community are holding onto hope that he will recover and help fill in the blanks about what really happened that morning.

People are encouraged to call police if they know anything at all. Even the smallest detail might help bring clarity to a story that has so far only brought pain.
