Jeffrey A. Knerr, 53, died after a violent two-vehicle crash in Tuscarawas County, Franklin Township, at the intersection of state Route 93 and U.S. 250.
It happened on the night of May 26, when Knerr was driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue south on Route 93. He was approaching a rural intersection marked with a stop sign.
Authorities say he failed to stop before entering U.S. 250.

At the same time, a 2021 Peterbilt truck towing a commercial trailer was moving northwest through the intersection.
The Nissan entered directly into its path. The impact was severe and immediate.
Knerr was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt. They also noted that impairment is believed to have played a role in the crash.
The truck was driven by a 39-year-old woman from Newcomerstown. She was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
Troopers said the crash remains under investigation. Local fire and EMS teams assisted at the scene while traffic was controlled in the area.
The intersection sits in a rural stretch where visibility and speed often converge into dangerous conditions.
