Alcona County investigators are still searching for answers after a deadly single-vehicle crash claimed the life of Ryan Bishop early Monday morning. The 26-year-old Montrose man was alone on the road when everything went wrong.
Bishop was driving northbound on M-65 around 6:10 a.m., just south of Sawmill Road in Curtis Township. The morning was calm, with no immediate signs of trouble before the crash.

At some point, the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway. The truck dropped into a ditch, launched upward, and struck a large tree along the road with devastating force.
The vehicle was owned by Dubois Electric of Indian River. Emergency crews from Alcona EMS responded, but Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies say speed does not appear to be a factor. They also found no evidence that Bishop was under the influence. That lack of clear cause has made the case especially difficult.
The investigation remains active as deputies work to understand what led to the truck leaving the pavement. Mechanical issues, road conditions, or a sudden medical emergency have not been ruled out.
While officials focus on facts, the human cost is already clear. A young life is gone, coworkers are grieving, and a family is left with questions that may never fully be answered.
