Glover Park — A violent confrontation that began inside an apartment in northwest Washington on Wednesday took a deadly turn, ending with the suspect dead and a toddler saved from further harm.
Shortly before 5 p.m. on February 11, police responding to shots fired found 34‑year‑old Rayven Amuan Edwards inside her Glover Park home. She had been shot multiple times and later died. Her 10‑year‑old daughter had also been shot but survived and was treated for injuries that were not life‑threatening. An 8‑year‑old boy was present and saw what happened but was not physically injured.

Police soon identified the suspected shooter as 35‑year‑old Stephon Marquis Jeter, Edwards’ estranged partner. Jeter, who also fathered Edwards’ 3‑year‑old son Million, left the scene with the little boy. His abrupt disappearance with the child sparked an urgent search and an AMBER Alert.
The pursuit led officers into Prince George’s County, Maryland, where Jeter’s vehicle was located. A high‑speed chase ensued back into D.C., ending when his car crashed in southeast Washington. Officers found Jeter inside, dead from a likely self‑inflicted gunshot wound. The toddler he had taken was never in the vehicle. He was discovered safe at a family member’s home shortly after.
Authorities noted Jeter had a past criminal record, including a conviction tied to weapons trafficking. That history raised questions for some in the community, wondering how someone with that background became involved in this tragedy.
As the neighborhood absorbs the shock of what happened, many are left trying to reconcile the bright young mother lost to violence and the small boy who walked away from it. For Glover Park, the violence has left a lasting mark that will be felt long after the headlines fade.
