A quiet neighborhood in Sandy, Oregon, was left shattered after a deadly domestic violence incident claimed three lives and left a police officer seriously wounded. Authorities say 38-year-old Bryan Andrew Moore is accused of killing his wife, Jenna Mary Overson, her mother, Mary Beth Overson, and 16-year-old Kobyn McClure during a shooting on May 31.
According to investigators, officers with the Sandy Police Department and deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a domestic disturbance and shooting shortly before 4 p.m. When law enforcement arrived, they reportedly came under gunfire. During the exchange, Sandy Police Sergeant Garrett Thornton was struck multiple times.

Thornton was flown to a hospital for emergency treatment. Officials say he is expected to survive despite suffering serious injuries. The shooting sparked a large police response and forced nearby residents to remain indoors as authorities worked to secure the area.
Prosecutors allege that Moore killed Jenna Overson, her mother Mary Beth Overson, and family friend Kobyn McClure before barricading himself inside a residence. The standoff lasted several hours before he surrendered to law enforcement later that evening. He was taken into custody and booked into the Clackamas County Jail.
Court records show Moore faces multiple charges, including murder, kidnapping, attempted aggravated murder, assault, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. He is currently being held without bail as the investigation continues.
In the days following the tragedy, many people have focused on Jenna Overson’s final social media messages. Months earlier, she publicly praised Moore and described him as a loving partner who cared deeply for her three sons. She wrote about how he helped heal their family and treated the boys as his own.
But friends and supporters later noticed a much different tone in one of her final posts. Just days before her death, Jenna shared a message about heartbreak, self-worth, and learning that another person’s actions do not define a person’s value. For many who knew her, those words now carry a painful weight.
Loved ones say Jenna leaves behind three young sons, ages 10, 8, and 3. Family members have launched fundraising efforts to help provide counseling, daily support, and long-term stability for the children as they cope with the unimaginable loss of their mother and grandmother.
As candles were lit during a community vigil, friends remembered Jenna as a caring, loyal, and joyful person who was always willing to help others. While investigators continue piecing together exactly what happened, a grieving community is now focused on honoring the lives lost and supporting the children left behind after a tragedy that has shaken Sandy to its core.
