Salt Lake City — Erin Bingham’s final moments came on a busy stretch of Interstate 15, a road thousands travel every day without a second thought. On Sunday afternoon, that routine drive turned tragic. Bingham, 45, of South Ogden, died after a violent rollover crash that shut down part of the northbound lanes near 3300 South.
The Utah Highway Patrol said the crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. Bingham was behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger, heading north, with a male passenger riding alongside her. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle lost control and rolled off the east side of the highway.

Both Bingham and her passenger were ejected from the car during the crash. Authorities later confirmed that neither was wearing a seatbelt. The impact left debris scattered and stunned drivers pulling over to help before emergency crews arrived.
Bingham was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors worked to save her, but she was pronounced dead shortly after. Her passenger survived and was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators now believe another vehicle may have played a role. A blue Honda Civic was possibly involved in the moments leading up to the rollover. Early findings suggest the Charger and the Civic may have collided, causing Bingham’s car to spin out of control. The Civic has since been located, though officials have not released further details about its driver or any potential charges.
News of Bingham’s death spread quickly through South Ogden and the greater Salt Lake City area. At 45, friends say she had much more life ahead of her. Loved ones are remembering her as a steady presence in their lives, someone who showed up when it mattered.
As investigators continue piecing together exactly what happened on that stretch of I-15, the loss feels immediate and personal. A routine Sunday drive ended in heartbreak, and a community now pauses to remember Erin Bingham.
