A quiet morning drive turned tragic in Iredell County, where 30-year-old Nicky Cherie Farrow of Lenoir lost her life in a violent crash along northbound Interstate 77.
It happened on April 29, 2026, near the 61-mile marker. Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said they were called to the scene at about 8:38 a.m. after reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Investigators say Farrow was driving a 2015 GMC Yukon heading north when something went wrong. The SUV drifted off the right side of the road, left the shoulder, and went into a wooded area.
The vehicle then slammed into several trees with heavy force. The impact left the SUV badly damaged, and the crash scene quickly turned into a quiet but painful reminder of how fast life can change.
Emergency responders arrived, but there was nothing they could do to save her. She was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.
Officials confirmed no other vehicles were involved. Early findings also indicate that speed and impairment are not believed to have played a role, leaving the exact cause still unclear.
News of her death spread quickly between Iredell County and her hometown of Lenoir, where people are now trying to process the sudden loss of someone they knew and cared about.
What remains is a stretch of highway marked by broken trees and flashing lights from that morning, now carrying the weight of a life cut short too soon.
